In 1991 we watched President Reagan step out of his helicopter onto the Whitehouse lawn. His overjoyed Cavalier "Rex" ran across the lawn to greet him. We loved the happy, beautiful, loving dog, and we were hooked!
We did not know what breed of dog Rex was at that time. We did realize he was some type of spaniel. We began doing our research and discovered Rex was a Cavalier King Charles Spaniel. We began our search for a pet Cavalier to share our lives with. We joined the CKCSC,USA Club and began attending shows in the midwest. While attending these shows we discovered that in the CKCSC you must handle your own dog as professional handlers are not allowed to show in this club. Fred, who showed ponies while growing up found this to be a very appealing hobby. After attending many shows and speaking with breeders we found two very respected breeders who were willing to mentor us in the breed. We purchased our first two Cavaliers from Meredith Johnson-Snyder of Rattlebridge and Tom O'Neal of Dreamridge Kennels.
In 1992 we began living with our first two Cavaliers. Our lives were enriched far beyond our expectations. We quickly became addicted to this wonderful, very special breed. We had a desire for a top quality bitch. To get what we wanted we realized that we would need to produce her from our own breeding program. The Snyders of Rattlebridge Farm allowed us to do a breeding to one of their dogs, and the subsequent litter produced two champion bitches who became the foundation of our breeding program. With the quidance of Meredith and Karin Ostmann of Sheeba Cavaliers we have been able to improve the quality of our dogs with each generation.
Our goals are to produce Cavaliers that:
Are outstanding examples of breed type and conformation
Are healthy and bred for longevity
Have outstanding temperament
Enhance our breeding program
Win in the show ring
Make wonderful family pets
We strive to maintain elegance in movement and style, and most importantly, never lose sight of the ultimate goal which is the future health of this very special breed.
We continue to breed quality Cavaliers for the show ring.We are dedicated to maintaining the desirable qualities of the breed, and at the same time we strive to improve upon what we have accomplished. Our goal is to produce happy, healthy Cavaliers who conform to the breed standard, with beauty, personality, and longevity as our priorities. Not all puppies we produce make it to the show ring so we occasionally have puppies available to proper homes.
Our dogs live in our home and receive hands on attention daily. Our puppies are whelped in our bedroom where they can receive intensive care if necessary. Simply put, we love our dogs!
